Last spring, actor Stephen Baldwin reportedly reached a tentative deal with the government to resolve the approximately $350,000 he owed in back taxes to the state government. According to the reported deal, Mr. Baldwin had one year to pay back the taxes in order to have the case discharged. The outstanding taxes were reportedly from tax years 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Now, it has been reported that Mr. Baldwin paid $100,000 toward resolving tax problems in a state court on Friday, October 18, 2013. The judge was said to be pleased that Mr. Baldwin offered a payment toward his tax debt at the October 18 court date because Mr. Baldwin did not pay anything at a court date back in July 2013. A state prosecutor reportedly told the judge that, if Mr. Baldwin does not finish paying his taxes by March 2014, he will recommend that Mr. Baldwin serve jail time.
Outside of the courthouse, Mr. Baldwin reportedly expressed confidence in his ability to pay his tax debt by the agreed upon deadline in March 2014. He is allegedly handling his own financial affairs now.
Mr. Baldwin has recently appeared on the TV show All-Star Celebrity Apprentice, and he currently has a Christian movie out called I’m in Love with a Church Girl.
