Given her numerous arrests for drug and alcohol abuse, and constant presence on the front pages of tabloid newspapers, one wonders just how much money Lindsay Lohan possibly could have left in the bank. That question has been given new impetus by a tweet the actress recently posted in response to President Barack Obama. Obama's tweet (as reported by AccountingWeb): “I've cut taxes for those who need it: middle-class families, small business.” Lohan's countertweet: “we also need to cut them for those that are listed on Forbes as 'millionaires,' if they are not, you must consider that as well.”
If there's one thing about which Republicans and Democrats can possibly agree, it's that Lindsay Lohan should stay out of politics. As AccountingWeb points out, Lohan discovered in 2012 that she had underpaid her 2009 federal taxes by nearly $100,000. She also was accused of running up an unpaid $46,000 bill at the Hotel Chateau Marmont after an extended stay of a few weeks, and, most recently, was confronted by a friend who says she stole $100,000 worth of jewelry and watches from his home.
Concludes the article, “With Uncle Sam wanting his share, legal troubles mounting, and creditors wanting to be paid, it’s no wonder she feels beleaguered by talk of raising her taxes. Still, in this troubled economy it's doubtful that many Americans will lend her much sympathy when it comes to wanting a tax break.”
