Chris Tucker Pays Part of His IRS and State Tax Debts

In July 2010, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reportedly issued a lien on property owned by Chris Tucker. At that time, the IRS alleged that Mr. Tucker owed the federal government approximately $11.5 million in unpaid taxes. More specifically, the government alleged that Mr. Tucker had not paid his full income tax bill for 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006. In 2012, the state of Georgia alleged that Mr. Tucker owed the state more than $592,000 for taxes he failed to pay in 2007. Mr. Tucker’s combined tax debt was reported to be $12,164,504.08.

Recently, it was reported that Mr. Tucker paid of his Georgia state taxes in order to release two separate liens on his property. Altogether, Mr. Tucker reportedly paid the state of Georgia almost $1 million ($984,926.98) for taxes he owed for tax years 2006 and 2007. There has been no report on how Mr. Tucker has, or will be, resolving his federal tax problems with the IRS.

Chris Tucker is best known for his role as Detective James Carter in the Rush Hour movies. He is also a stand-up comedian and has appeared in other feature films, including the 2012 hit, Silver Linings Playbook.
