I Have Received An IRS CP 14 Notice, Indicating That I Owe The Federal Government Unpaid Taxes.

Posted by Travis Watkins | Mar 09, 2018 | 0 Comments

It can be frightening to receive an IRS CP 14 notice. You do not want to be in trouble with the IRS; however, you may not have the money to pay your tax debt, or you may not believe that you owe the government outstanding taxes. Yet, in either case, you want the whole thing to be done with as soon as possible. You want to get the government off your back.

Our Oklahoma City tax attorneys understand your desire to resolve this situation, but we urge you not take out a private loan before you talk to us. There are a couple reasons for this. For example:

  • You may not owe the amount indicated in the IRS CP 14 notice. You may be putting yourself in debt to satisfy alleged outstanding taxes that you don't really owe.
  • You may be able to negotiate a payment plan that gives you more time to pay your tax debt without penalty or interest. Thus, over the long term, you may pay less than you would if you were paying the interest on a private loan.
